ORIGIN STORY
A little bit about the Secular Skeptic
Growing up, I could frequently be found putting pencil to paper when I wasn't eagerly reading the latest Calvin and Hobbes and science fiction novels. I knew from an early age that either drawing or writing would shape my future.
Indeed, I would eventually go on to graduate from a digital animation course in 2002, and a couple of years later decided to embark into the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology's Journalism Arts print media program, which I completed successfully near the top of my class in 2006.
Inspiring leaders of men such as MLK Jr., passionate human rights activists like Malcolm X, eloquently articulate scholars such as Carl Sagan, as well as introspectively hilarious yet thought-provoking comedians like George Carlin and creative story tellers like cartoonist Bill Watterson, have played pivotal roles in influencing my worldview.
I'm a stout secularist who considers the separation of church and state sacrosanct, pun intended. History has always shown theological regimes invariably end up oppressing "the other," or "non-believer."
I'm also a skeptic at heart who frequently questions the status quo, and won't hesitate to criticize left- or right-wing perspectives, although I find the latter generally more flawed.
While I enjoy working for a small rural newspaper, I've long thought about but procrastinated publishing a blog to share the musings of my mind. That is, of course, until now!
